Age / Group / Time / Space
- Ages 8-16 | 4-20 players (teams of 2-4) | 10-15 minutes | Any space, indoor or outdoor
Materials
- 1 roll of reusable fabric ribbon or old cloth strips per team (NOT single-use toilet paper)
- Optional: timer or stopwatch
- Optional: cones to mark team zones
Quick-Run Card
- Form teams of 2-4.
- Give each team one fabric roll.
- On the signal, one player wraps a teammate from shoulders to ankles using the full roll.
- On the stop signal, unwrap and re-roll the fabric completely.
- First team with fully re-rolled fabric wins, or play for fun with no score.
Setup and Boundaries
- Each team has their own clear zone to work in
- Signal: 1 short whistle = go; 2 short whistles = stop
- Wrapping covers shoulders to ankles only. Not the face or head.
How to Play
- Form teams of 2-4 players. Each team gets one fabric roll.
- The team decides together who will be wrapped first.
- On the go signal, teammates wrap the chosen player from shoulders to ankles using the full fabric roll.
- The wrapped player can move, shuffle, or stand still as their team chooses.
- On the stop signal, the team unwraps and re-rolls the fabric back to its original shape.
- First team with fully re-rolled fabric wins the round.
- Swap who gets wrapped and play again. Every player gets a turn if time allows.
I-OPt Options
- A (Active): Be the player who gets wrapped, move and shuffle to add challenge
- S (Support): Help wrap and direct the team, encourage the wrapped player
- Q (Quiet): Re-roll the fabric carefully and steadily after unwrapping
- O (Observer): Watch the first round, choose a role for round two
Inclusion Adaptations
- Players not comfortable being wrapped can be the wrap supervisor or timekeeper instead
- Seated players can be wrapped from waist to ankles only
Stewardship Moment
- Fabric rolls are fully reusable. Single-use toilet paper is NOT used in this version.
- Prompt: “We chose fabric over paper. What other small swaps can reduce waste at camp?”
Consent
- Pre-brief: “This game involves wrapping a teammate in fabric. For those not comfortable being wrapped, there are other roles: supervising the wrap, re-rolling the fabric, or being the team timekeeper.”
- Mid-game check: After the first round, check in. “How did that feel for the person being wrapped? Want to adjust the wrapping style or choose a different role?”
- Opt-out/re-entry: Tap out of the wrapped role at any time. Call “in” to take a different role for the next round.
Risks and Mitigation
- Wrapped player losing balance: have one teammate stand beside them as a spotter at all times
- Fabric wrapping too tightly: remind teams to keep wrapping snug but not tight, and to check in with the wrapped player
- Tripping during the re-roll phase: keep team zones clear of obstacles
Warm-Up Suggestions
- “Pass the Roll”: teams pass the fabric roll around the circle as fast as possible without dropping it
- “Knot or Not”: each team ties a simple knot in their fabric and then unties it as fast as they can
Debrief Questions
- What? “What did your team figure out to wrap and unwrap faster?”
- So What? “How did communication change when one person was literally wrapped up?”
- Now What? “When do you have to work as a team to figure out a problem quickly?”
Cleanup and Reset
- Re-roll all fabric strips and store them for next time
- Return cones if used
