Description
LEADER: Everyone stand up! Let’s get a beat goin’!
(LEADER leads group in simple rhythmic 1-2-3-4 clapping pattern)
LEADER: (over the clapping) Now this is a story about a little boy who had a pet turkey and his Mama wanted to kill it for Sunday supper. So, the little boy hid the turkey behind the barn and when his Mama asked him where that turkey was, he pretended he didn’t know. Keep that clapping going now! OK! Good! Now, whenever I ask you a question, you answer, “Yes, Ma’am!” Let’s try it.
LEADER: Oh, will ya sing this song?
GROUP: Yes, Ma’am!
LEADER: A little louder, please! (Ask louder) Oh, will ya sing this song?
GROUP: (louder) Yes, Ma’am!
LEADER: Oh, was my turkey gone?
GROUP: Yes, Ma’am!
LEADER: (Louder) Was my turkey gone?
GROUP: Yes, Ma’am!
LEADER: Which way did he go?
(Stop here and teach the group to point in opposite directions at once, left and right)
LEADER: OK, so when I ask, “Which way did he go?” you point both ways at once to confuse your Mama and say, “So-So!” Let’s try it! Which way did he go?
GROUP: So-So!
LEADER: A- Which way did he go?
GROUP: So-So!
LEADER: Will ya help me to find him?
GROUP: Yes, Ma’am!
LEADER: Get ready, let’s go!
(Stop the song again, briefly, to explain,and demonstrate!, how they are to squat down on their haunches and tuck their hands under their arms like wings and jut their heads forward, walking like turkeys while saying, “Shoo turkey! Shoo! Shoo!, Shoo turkey, Shoo! Shoo!)

LEADER: Did ya get any eggs?
GROUP: Yes, Ma’am!
LEADER: Did ya give ’em to your Mama?
GROUP: Yes, Ma’am!
LEADER: Did she put ’em in the bread?
GROUP: Yes, Ma’am!
